I know I have mentioned singular cycles before…but I keep finding myself drifting back onto their website… The object that is drawing me in? The Cyclocross race bike, the Kite. Sleek steel! Just look at the headbadge! It is gorgeous!

I’ve never hidden my urge for the retro look. As much as I love the feel of carbon and the shiny orange of my Fizik saddle, I can’t help but crave a hint of the traditional. It’s probably because I spend so much time pouring over images of Coppi or Merckx, the hero’s of cycling golden age. With that in mind I stoically bore the taunts of my clubmates and mounted the beautiful Carradice bags to my race bike. The stiff […]

The video speaks for itself really. I wont ride up the side of a lorry again…

Saw these video’s and decided to share them. Lots of cracking racing highlights from the last 50 years. Good tunes too. Helmetless cool!

It is dark outside. It’s cold outside . It’s cold inside. It’s 120 days until the cycling world flocks to Milan for the first classic of the season. Longer still until it heads to Belgium for the hard men’s races and the upcoming Boonen/Cancellara showdown. So what do you do with yourself over the winter? You could race cross, get the miles in, hit the turbo. Or…you could lock yourself in a room with some beer and youtube to relive […]

I just picked up my old Orbea from the shop. It’s been getting some TLC from the guys at Zero G cycles in Bedminster. New headset, cables, chain, cassette. Everything is running smoothly now and it was good to be pushing a big gear again. The biggest gear I’ve had for the past few months is 39-11, I’m hoping that will have improved my pedalling and forced me to spin faster. We shall see. The frame is shocking…flexy and harsh […]

A very quick one to show you this winter kit from frame and pedal manufacturer Look. Clean, simple and stylish. I’d expect nothing less from one of the most recognizable brands in the sport. The Logo itself is a classic! Speaking of Look, I am still waiting keenly for the release of the S-Track pedal in January!

I’m cutting the ‘she’ from she’s gotta have it…. It was making sound like even more of a gimp than I actually am…. so with that in mind… I give you Gotta Have It..#17 some lovely cycling caps. It’s not often I start with something that I have actually ordered but it does make a nice change. I really wanted a winter cap to keep my ears out of the elements and Prendas had the right product at the right […]

I’m sure that if you are reading this then you have already heard, but I’ll say it anyway. Bristol Council have put an end to cross racing on their land. The reason they have given is that we cause to much damage to facilities…. the grass… and given the wet summer we had the ground would not be able to recover without significant financial input from the council. Initially I heard that the council wanted all race organisers to pay a ‘damage limitation’ fee […]

Time for a little cross geekery…. Santa, if you are reading…I would quite like these t shirts!

Now don’t get me wrong. I love racing cross…but when I sat up in bed to the sound of a mobile phone alarm clock at 7:30 last Sunday morning; I was not feeling very race ready. I could feel the cold and more importantly, I could hear the rain/sleet battering the roofs of parked cars up and down my street. Up I got though and on went the skinsuit followed by what felt like my entire cycling wardrobe. A couple […]

A couple of local bits.. First up we have the bikes coming out of Webbs of Warmley. Si, is putting out some great looking frames. I’m a big fan of the cross build, particularly the cable routing. It’s something that bikes at this budget seem to get wrong every time! Not Webbs though, along the top tube as it should be! The frameset is around £300 including headset. Bargain. Give them a bell for info on full builds. Up next […]
